I am not too happy about it, but I have to work with C again at least for the next 2 years. It’s been 5 years since I wrote a C program, which was while I was in 2nd year of college. The reason for this switch(I do seriously hope that its temporary) is that I am now back to school at University of Kerala for the Master of Technology(M.Tech) program in Digital Image processing. Now going back to school after spending time in the corporate world was a tough decision to make. I don’t say with 100% certainty that I regret it, but hey, it is too early to say since its only been a couple of days since the program had started.
However, going back to C from Java is slightly painful especially since I’ll have to reinvent the wheel quite often rather than concentrate on the business logic. It is quite sad to see that a university Masters program hasn’t matured from a tending towards low level language like C and the rut involved in writing code for the trivial operations which the libraries that come with the newer technologies provide so that programmers can concentrate fully on solving the problem at hand rather than wasting time writing code for simple, well known operations like sorting, searching, insertion, deletion, etc..
Anyways, lets see what happens. I have a lot of catching up to do with C right now 🙁
