The one software thats keeping me from installing Windows (even inside virtualbox) right now is the Kindle for PC. Since Amazon doesn’t ship the Kindle to India(I mean the good ones; only the classic kindle is being shipped), I can’t or rather don’t want to get the Kindle from here. So, the software version is the only option for me. I tried installing Wine and then get Kindle over it. I must say that since Microsoft keeps windows to itself with proprietary licensing, Wine as it is, is nothing short of a big joke. Nothing can be saved. This means that I have to register my kindle for PC every time I open it, causing "AK’s Kindle 10" by now.
So, long story short, if you need something thats designed to work in Windows, you need windows, unless you can get hold of its source-code thereby enabling you to compile for your platform. In this case, source-code is not an option since amazon keeps that info to itself. Finally, the only solution to my problem is to install virtualbox and have my old Windows XP home edition(SP2) installed in a virtual machine created in it.
