I had installed the totem player in Kubuntu 10.10 today a few mins ago. The reason why I did that is basically because I found the dragon player quite tedious in terms of random access of the media files. Moving the progress scroller in dragon doesn’t work most of the times and sometimes they do work either automatically without my input or with a pretty long delay.
The problem is that when I try playing files in totem that got installed, it keeps telling me about missing plugins and unlike what I saw with dragon and with totem in "Ubuntu", the prompt where package manager asks if it can install the missing plugin is simply missing here. Now, I need to find out what makes the package manager ask that question in dragon but not in the case of totem. Perhaps googling could help. For now, I found a package called "Extra Plugins for Totem" and have asked the KPackageKit to install that. Lets see what happens.
