Temporarily back to Windows

I never intended to do this, but I kinda sorta had to switch back to Windows 7 x64 in my laptop, the one which it came pre-installed with. Its been a full year since I got this laptop and exactly after the year, the optical disc drive of my laptop stopped reading my DVDs. Luckily for me, I got this with a special offer of an extended 1 year warranty. So, I intend to use that now.

But, the only way I can get these service center guys is to acknowledge that warranty is to put back the factory installed image using the recovery discs, which are unfortunately DVDs. The reason for this is the terms of the warranty and that the H.P Support Assistant has an applet there which shows the current status of the warranty.
I tried getting an external optical disc drive as my internal drive was not reading the discs, but that proved to be ineffective as somehow, all H.P G60 products come with a BIOS that doesn’t allow us to boot from any external device.

Finally it turned out that if I write DVDs with the lowest possible speed(2x in my case), the internal drive can read it. Anything higher is impossible to read. So, I ended up copying the recovery discs and writing them using this minimal speed and I’m back with the Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Now I’m waiting for my other laptop to be shipped to me from Mumbai(where I was living before moving back to Trivandrum) to give this one to the service guys.
